I can reproduce the behaviour the original reporter shows, however, I
don't think this is a bug. I can reproduce what the reporter claims when
doing "/bin/rm -r ".
I don't think this is a bug because AFAIK this is the expected behaviour
for rm -r?

You can also try '/bin/rm -r ' for the test; this would bypass
aby alias you might have set. Please also state your Ubuntu version.
