I'm experiencing the same problem, also with an intel graphics card.

I'm not sure what other information is needed, any 32bit 3D application
that reports the OpenGL extensions doesn't list
GL_ARB_vertex_buffer_object, even though any 64bit application such as
glxinfo that reports the extensions shows it. Also, I installed the
32bit version of Ubuntu on the same
