They broke it again. Ubuntu 11.04
EOG version 2.32.1 junks the file menu entirely. (Quite probably from a
misreading of an old Gnome Guideline that explains how task based applications
that do not work with files do not need to have a file menu, but Images are
files.)
It is a less memorable key

Thank you for your bug report. I can confirm this. The Alt key correctly
opens all of the other menus, except for the _File menu (for example,
Alt+E correctly opens _Edit)
