VirtualBox. Image failed to boot after update to kernel 2.6.24-20
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2523
Same problem here as Michael R. Head wrote on 2008-08-05.
Package: virtualbox-ose-modules-386 Depends on
virtualbox-ose-modules-2.6.24-20-386
Package: virtualbox-ose-modules-2.6.24-20-386 Depends on
linux-image-2.6.24-20-386
linux-image-2.6.24-20-386 is not available
Looks like hardy-update
Did this update somehow make its way into hardy-updates instead of
hardy-proposed? I have disabled hardy-proposed and am finding that
update-manager wants to pull in the 2.6.24-20 modules (which it can't
find of course).

Works for me, too.
Upgrading virtualbox-ose-modules-generic (24.0.5 => 24.0.5) made virtualbox-ose
work again for using images.

The VirtualBox kernel modules still have to be rebuild manually each time the
kernel version changes.
Daniel Hahler did a great job and normally provided these rebuilds just in time.
Maybe he's currently "out of office", so i took the challenge and created my
first PPA build - successfully after
It looks like you're not the only one who ran into this problem after
upgrading to 2.6.24-20-generic. This how-to describes how to compile the
modules from source: http://technologytales.com/2008/07/27/getting-
virtualbox-working-on-ubuntu-after-a-kernel-upgrade/
