Public bug reported: When I use CTRL+ALT+FN with a key other than F7, I just get a black screen now instead of a console.
If I disable the splashscreen/loading bar by removing "quiet splash" from the boot command in /boot/grub/menu.lst, it works. I suppose the bug is related to the "usplash" package, but I'm not sure about it. It might also have something to do with this bug which I also experience: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/usplash/+bug/252146 [3][~]$ dpkg -l | grep splash ii edgy-session-splashes 0.5-0ubuntu2 Edgy Session Splashes ii kubuntu-artwork-usplash 1:8.04-20 kubuntu artwork for usplash ii kubuntu-grub-splashimages 2.1 grub splashimages for Kubuntu ii libusplash0 0.5.22 userspace bootsplash library ii usplash 0.5.22 Userspace bootsplash utility ii usplash-theme-ubuntu 0.19 Usplash theme for Ubuntu ii xubuntu-artwork-usplash 0.19 Xubuntu usplash image ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: intrepid teminals usplash virtual -- [Intrepid] Virtual terminals don't work unless "quiet splash" is removed in menu.lst https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/253243 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
