I recently noticed this problem on fresh Ubuntu 10.10 install with
openjdk-6
I did some source lookup and it seeems that javaws uses xdg-desktop-icon
util for shortcut creation.
I believe this problem is caused by bug in this util. I reported it as
#664099

I am using Ubuntu 10.04 AMD64 with Sun-Java 6 update 20.

Creating /home/user/Desktop directory fixes that problem, but I must move
shortcut to real desktop (Pulpit in polish).
