Title:
firefox
Hello, after two months running 8.04 without any issues, this morning I
installed 8.10 through command line.
Firefow always crushed when opening any page containing SWF.
Currently I'm using Adobe flash player for Mozilla.
Also i have experienced other issue with KArchiver, it configures
itselfs
I installed FROM SCRATCH the Ubuntu 8.10 release yesterday. My /etc/adobe
directory
no longer exists, therefore, and I'm running Firefox 3.0.0.
The problem I reported above no longer occurs on my system.
So, I'm happy...

firefox crashed with SIGSEGV in gfxXlibNativeRenderer::Draw()
I try to access my hotmail account and the Firefox freezes, became grey and
after a little wile it shuts down.
I use Ubuntu 8.10 Alpha 4 (updated) and I also use Compiz fusion with the
Normal options plus zoom (nothing fancy,
no cube or anything like that). And also the processor hangs up in a
there is no /etc/adobe in my system. I'm using the flashplugin-nonfree
in Firefox 3.0 on Intrepid, and experiencing this crash. Any ideas where
the config file might be hidden?

I'm running Intrepid as well. There IS no /etc/adobe directory on the system,
as you correctly noted.
I forgot to write that down. Sorry:
sudo mkdir /etc/adobe
sudo vi /etc/adobe/mms.cfg
I stuck this line into that file, then restarted Firefox:
WindowlessDisable=true

Thanks for the clarification. I'll try that - unfortunately Intrepid
seems to be unusable at the moment after an update to the Synaptics
touchpad input driver..

disabled as above.

I tried the recommended workaround, and things seem to be Much Better Now, in
the sense
that the crash no longer happens under Ubuntu Intrepid Alpha somenumberorother:
To repeat the workaround, I did this:
sudo vi /etc/adobe/mms.cfg
I stuck this line in the file, then restarted Firefox:

first the browser just hung up and then crashed after a while being not

I was using Hardy for two months and had my browser set to www.bbc.com
as my homepage. It never crashed at start up. I then upgraded to
Intrepid and the crash happen everytime firefox started with www.bbc.com
set as the homepage.
I do agree with you that it might be a flash related problem
From this comment :

As a reminder, Firefox 3.0.1 has a known crash problem with a wide
variety of windowless mode SWFs. This has already been fixed in the
Mozilla code tree and alpha builds are available for

bbc.com doesn't crash for me with noscript.
The problem is http://www.bbc.co.uk/home/object/clock/tiny.swf
So it may be a flash related bug (I'm testing flash 10 RC)

Firefox is pretty much unusable.
I had to install Opera so as to browser the web.
The Opera browser does hit the error signal 5 from time to time; but does not
crash and exit.
