Getting it in before the Beta depends on that other bug I referenced
(bug 270518). That is what that bug is tracking, the inclusion into
Intrepid (ie: Intrepid Beta and Intrepid Release).

I agree, but is there a way to get it into 8.10 before the beta for
testing purposes?

Depending on how experimental the S/MIME support is this bug might be
closed then.

So, now I am trying to build 2.00 and getting an exit 1 status on
./configure (no options). I am using a P4 machine. I don't have the
exact error that I got from the ./configure command, but am posting the
config.log file. I think the message may have been complaining about
termcap possibly? Do
