My floppy drive is not available. I use a Sony laptop PCG-FX503

I'm running 8.10 final fully updated and my floppy drive doesn't work or
show up anywhere. I've also loaded 9.04 Alpha and the problem exists for
that release as well. I have 9.04 Alpha as up to date as i can get it.
