Guidance Power Manager has been removed from Kubuntu 10.04 and onwards
since it is unmaintained. Unfortunately, this means that no new features
or bugfixes will be made.

In intrepid + 4.2 g-p-m is still the power manager. However in jaunty + 4.2 it
is changed to powerdevil.
To try out power devil on intrepid, you can remove g-p-m from the
system; make sure powerdevil is installed, and add a battery monitor
widget to eg. your panel.

This was fixed in KDE 4.2, as it no longer uses Guidance. PowerDevil,
Guidance's replacement, works much better.
