Same for me. Installed the dailies from today and taking out splash
resolves the blank screen ürobel. FYI: 3D effects work

I have a similar problem (see bug #258884). Does this command produce any
output for you?
$ grep xforcevesa /boot/grub/menu.lst
If it does perhaps we have the exact same issue.

My suspicions turned out to be incorrect, xforcevesa does not cause my issue,
the splash option does. Can you confirm that removing splash from the kernel
parameters fixes the issue for you?

Yeah, I took splash out of /boot/grub/menu.lst and it has no problem
with blank screening anymore.

I've noted this with the Intrepid kernel (and Xorg + video drivers) on a
Hardy box.
For a workaround, try disabling the boot-splash by removing the splash
option from the kernel parameters.

With more experimentation I have noticed that sometimes a blank screen
will come up on boot and other times it will be fine. This happens to
the livecd and the install on the HD. I cannot figure out why.
