I don't know what the cause of this is, but it is ridiculous that Ubuntu
uses a version of Scid, the best chess database program for Linux, from
2004 when there have been many recently released superb versions.
Couldn't someone who understands the big picture of how to get this
stuff done take

have uploaded a new version of scid 3.7.3 to the squeeze/sid. See

Scid 3.7.1 is out now. I compiled it myself and it's a vast improvement
over the other versions. Would be great if this would make it into the
repos.

I can absolutely confirm this bug, I would like to see the newer version
in the repos myself.
Don't get me wrong but I think this is really a bug in Ubuntu, not in
Scid. There is no problem with the program scid itself, it's just that
Ubuntu does not update it in the repos.
