What additional information can I provide to solve this bug?
My password is not that long as seen in the screenshot.
I think these are the hexadecimal values of my password.

I think the passwords shouldn't be so much longer after all. There is
something wrong here.. This bug needs more attention.

I don't think it's a problem that the password is longer, it just gets
converted into hexidecimals. I just checked this with intrepid which has
an option to show password. I still don't understand why doesn't the
wifi work sometimes.

To solve this bug I had to insert these lines inside /etc/rc.local
ifdown wlan0
ifup wlan0
Seems that the settings in /etc/network/interfaces are written after the
wireless network card has already be set up.
So the settings are accepted after a restart.

tail -n0 -f /var/log/syslog > /tmp/syslog
I started the log after booting (when showing the login screen) in tty2.
Then I logged in (into Ubuntu; again I was not connected to the WLAN).
Then I opened the nm-applet and typed in the password.

I am using a DELL Latitude D830 laptop.
