I see the notebook only every other weekend :) and I will try wvdial next time. Right now vodafone-mobile-connect from https://forge.betavine.net/projects/vodafonemobilec/ is used on the notebook instead of the network-manager and DNS works all the time. The vodafone app allows to set DNS manually

I've tried this a few more times, and haven't been able to reproduce it again, but the log shows that this happened at least once. This may be a quirk of the modem. I'm told that 10.11.12.13 and .14 are given by some providers/modems inappropriately. Perhaps this can be detected and corrected
