I think the two bugs are related.
Version 0.6.2 introduced some changes in the way the network
communication is performed and this makes version 0.6.0 and 0.6.2
incompatible.
Bug #234247 describes the case when 0.6.0 works as the server and 0.6.2
is the client, the bug I filed describes the other

patch (SRU) or not (backports).

Finally, I think backports are more appropriated to such a situation. Indeed
this bug is not enough critical to ask for a SRU process
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates), because:
- only some cases of network games seem to be affected (network game on
internet servers or LAN with olde
