Hi, just to confirm :
On latest ubuntu intrepid, with a wacom volito2 tablet :
- plugging in the tablet at any time (boot, gdm, GNOME session opened,
desktop apps running or not) is OK and tablet works in absolute mode (cool !)
- unplugging the tablet under X crashes X.
BTW I encounter
I have been investigating the issue with upstream and it seems it is
extremely simple. There is a faulty build switch in the code that builds

The driver is installed as a binary xorg input driver. This bug is
already patched in the updated version of linux-wacom source 0.8.1-3.
somebody simply needs to update the driver package.

the source package which builds the driver is called 'wacom-tools'.
This crash is probably due to the new version in the archive. The old
one (0.8.0) doesn't crash.

I have the same problem on shutdown with my tabletPC. The stacktrace
leads to wacom_drv.so, which is part of wacom-tools.
