Is it still an issue with the final release of Intrepid (version 0.2.6-2ubuntu4
for awn-applets-python-core) ?
If so, can you test with the last upstream trunk build
(http://wiki.awn-project.org/Installation:Ubuntu#PPA) ?

I received this crash while running the weather applet. I right-clicked
and selected View Weather Map. After a short pause, the crash
occurred. I just tried it again and it crashed again, so it seems to be
reproducible. Let me know if there's anything else you need.
