Sebastian, do you get the same error as the reporter? I suspect you do
not, in which case you should submit a crash report with apport. You
might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Please
then try reproducing the problem and submitting the generated crash
report as a new bug.
I found that when I uninstalled KeePassX in synaptic and then
reinstalled it... the problem was fixed.

Not sure - but I think I have the same problem here.
The Keepass DB was created under Ubuntu 8.04 - and now i'm unable to open it
under Ubuntu 8.10:
$ keepassx
Found Metastream: KPX_CUSTOM_ICONS_2
Removed old CuIcMeSt v2
Segmentation fault

The database was created on a desktop under Ubuntu 8.04 (0.2.2-3) and
copied to a laptop upgraded to 8.10 (0.3.1-1). The database and keyfiles
have identcal md5sums and could be opened when the laptop was running
8.04.

0.3.1-1~hardy1. Which version did you create/use the database file with?
(Ubuntu 8.10 includes 0.3.1-1).
Please retest the database file with Ubuntu 8.04 to rule out the key
