The kind people on #ltsp pointed out that this is caused by having all
users in the same main group instead of each user its own group.
This behaviour is expected, and will not be changed. The solution is to
make sure every user has its own group, also on an ldap setup.

We have the same issue here with ltsp in ubuntu 8.04.1. But only floppy
drives are affected. usb sticks do not appear on other users desktops.

Hi,
This is on a production system, which i cannot upgrade at this moment (or
anytime soon).
It seems to be consistent though. I saw it on fresh installs on two different
servers.
Te only thing that makes our system slightly different for the standard ltsp
setup is that we use ldap auth.
