Public bug reported:
When I boot up on the 2.6.27-2 server kernel (Intrepid), my hard drive
is not detected. It works fine with the 2.6.24-16 server kernel.
Upon booting 2.6.27-2, I get the following message (at the initrd stage still,
I think):
Gave up waiting for root device
[....]
ALERT! /dev/disk/by-uuid/658bcd8c... does not exist. Dropping to a shell!
There is indeed no /dev/disk directory.
At the shell, /proc/modules lists the following modules:
sg, sr_mod, cdrom, ohci1394, ieee1394, pata_atiixp, ehci_hcd, ahci,
ata_generic, pata_acpi, libata, usbcore, r8169, scsi_mod, dock, thermal,
