Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 8.04 freshly updated on 2 partitions, one I have used for updating to
8.10 with update-manager -d.
I have kept the old /boot/grub/menu.lst as Ubuntu chooses the wrong hard disk
for the MBR.
Restart gives only low resolution for the untouched partition as well!

Hardware: Integrated ATI Radeon X1250-based graphics
                  Acer P191W LCD Monitor Max. Resolution 1440 x 900 @60Hz which
I use

N.B. Doing the same on my laptop gives no video at all, but I guess that
is a different bug because of the different hardware or could it be that
the bug is messing with the X system?
