I can confirm this happens with adept directly. If you run adept from
the command line it will sometimes ask for password and fail to launch.
Running again remembers the previous password entered and launches the
app.
One of the Kdeinit processes is failing or something during the initial
launch.
I think the problem is the pop-up window, neither button is in focus.
Pressing enter on the keyboard effectively does not work as expected
when no button has focus.
If you manually click ok, this appears to work as expected.
Please try the following:
1) Do not enter any password and press enter
Investigating a fix via kdesudo (which may be the actual culprit).
Awaiting a fix to kdesudo to test.

I have the same problem, when update-notifier-kde works, which isn't
often I'm afraid, you have to click on it once to get the sudo password
thing. That time adept doesn't start. Clicking on the icon again
launches adept, without the password.

Yeah, I just changed the software package it affects. It would be nice
to track down why this happens though...
