Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gconf2
Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex. I needed to repair from the bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/264329, so, I manually cleaned dpkg base and purged whole gnome, gtk and gconf. I also removed all gconf configuration files (~/.gconf* and /etc/gconf). After that I have installed removed packages with aptitude install ubuntu-desktop gnome-desktop-environment. But after this I can't launch gnome - the message appeared that /usr/lib/libgconf2-4/gconf-sanity-check-2 returned error status 256. Copying /etc/gconf from another machine with Ubuntu 8.04 helped me. ** Affects: gconf2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- gconf2-common (or gconf2) doesn't configure itself properly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/268938 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
