[Bug 269012] Re: Sound (Intel HDA9) doesn ’t really work (ALSA0) on Intrepid Ibex alpha- 5

2009-09-15 Thread Peter Whittaker
I never did get to that testing, sigh. Amazing how demotivating a workaround can be. At any rate, this problem is gone on my DV7 with Karmic - I let the install replace the conf file and all is well. Marking as fix released. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Fix Released

I'm marking this as confirmed based on similar behavior on my dv7 and a workaround that could form the basis for a fix. The workaround is to add the following line to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base: options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=1 I write workaround, not fix, for at least two reasons: 1. The user

It was renamed .conf because new kernels require that. Can you confirm that ALL features of your sound card work with that quirk? If everything (mic, speakers, headphone, S/PDIF if you have it) works with that quirk, then it can be marked Triaged and fixing it will be trivial. -- Sound

I can do the testing, but owing to previous commitments, I won't likely be able to get to it until early July. (Yeah, I know it's only about 30 minutes of work, but every 1/2 hour is precious right now.) I've added a reminder to do this around about July 3rd. -- Sound (Intel HDA9) doesn’t really
