Installed the beta dvd for i386 desktop. Nothing changed: still the same too large screens. I also tried installing a daily yesterday on my laptop (dell inspiron 2200 - 13 partitions) and also for that the screens were too large. No resizing possible. -- Install screen does not fit the screen

No, I did not happen in Ubuntu 8.04.1 LTS, but you are using a new screen for step 4 (partitioning), and this was the first alpha of 8.10 I tried (got a mail that more testers were needed). I do actually have 15 partitions on hda, and 13 partitions on hdb. I can not say at the moment that the win
