The error is similar to http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=532262
which should be fixed in jaunty, closing the bug you can reopen if you
still get the issue after upgrading though

I'm seeing a very similar error whenever in 32-bit 8.10 I try to play a
DVD with Totem. It says:
Totem was not able to play this disc.
You are not supposed to show G_IO_ERROR_FAILED_HANDLED in the UI
