Just a note that I get the same white screen with random flashing horizontal line segments on a Gigabyte Radeon HD 4850 1GB (GV-R485MC- 1GH). I didn't see any rainbow patterns, though. This happens both in Intrepid and the alpha 3 release of Jaunty. Vesa does work, but can't set the resolution
