Steps to replicate bug:
Install from alternative install CD.
Installation finishes successfully.
Boot into the new install and the Ubuntu 'loading' screen can be seen.
Gnome login screen should now be seen but instead the login drums can be heard
but the screen is black.
I can log in with my details but still the screen is black.

Possibly this has something to do with the development with the radeonhd driver?
I'm not sure which release as I could not see the desktop but I tried
with the last two daily i386 alternative install Intrepid Ibex CD
builds.
