Crazy that it's so hard to get a solution that works for all so related
machines. I wonder how the windows folks do it.

I own a T61 76633LG, suspend works (mostly) fine out of the box with
hardy. I didn't have to do any changes, IIRC; I surely didn't edit XML
for that. Applying the proposed changes for my machine made matters
worse here, suspend would take over a minute to complete and the screen
would stay blank
