Public bug reported:

This may be either a bug in the kernel or upstart, I'm not sure. When I
boot Intrepid Ibex, the spash screen doesn't show, but instead I get a
whole half of a red screen, the bottom half is black. And then white
columns the width of characters if my screen were 80x24 begin to descend
in alternating rows. Once the reach the black portion of the screen,
they emerge as teal squares, instead of white.

This didn't happen around the time of -rc5, but its difficult to
regression test because most of -rc5 didn't even boot (and I had to run
a custom kernel).

X comes up as expected after a while, but I can't even switch to a VT,
or my monitors states "No signal". Before the spash screen initializes,
the kernel informs me about not having an AGP apurature, and tells me to
enable some option that doesn't exist in my BIOS.

** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
