This is a bug in flash player itself that has existed pretty much since
file upload support was added to flash on linux, would all those
interested in seeing this resolved vote for it to be fixed on the adobe
bug tracker: https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FP-377 and if you feel
so inclined leave
The problem also occurs using the 64bit beta version of the Flash
Plugin.

I'm using Shockwave Flash 10.0 r22 in Jaunty, the bug is kind of still
there. I found that if you wait for about 5 minutes, Firefox is
responsive again. Still too annoying!.
Also, I'm using the package from the partner repo adobe-flash-plugin
(the same problem as flashplugin-nonfree though).

Same issue here. Both with
Shockwave Flash 10.0 r12
Shockwave Flash 10.0 r15
Both with Firefox 3.0.6 and 3.1b2
I also experience random freezing several times a day even when not
uploading files, but it seems to be all flash related.
