I am also experiencing this problem with all of the latest updates. My
only difference is this is on my Dell D830 laptop using either VGA or
DVI outputs on my external monitor. Hardy this worked like a champ.

I'm also experiencing this issue with a Gigabyte EG43M-S2H and a variety
of 1080p compatible panels (Sharp, Westinghouse, Sony, etc). I've
noticed that I have better luck with a DVI->HDMI cable than with the
HDMI output on the motherboard directly.
