Most likely this is a bug in the printer firmware rather than Ghostscript.
VMerror means that the printer run out of memory during rendering of
the image.
The PS file generated by pdf2ps is standard. It can be processed by Distiller
and
Ghostscript itself. You can try to install more memory in
