reproduce the same with a new user created on your system? does the same
happens with terminator (the terminal emulator) ?

Yes, you are right. After adding new user, this effect doesn't show up.
Since I've already installed ubuntu for almost one month, I don't
remember what I've done. Could you tell me which file or option I shall
change to back to default setting?
What do you mean terminator? xterm? If xterm, I
ok closing the report then. Terminator is a terminal emulator which you
can grab from here https://edge.launchpad.net/terminator and you cannot
open tabs with xterm thats not supported. thanks for the quick feedback.
