Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Kubuntu better. The KDE3 version of KNetworkManager has been
discontinued by its original authors. This unfortunately means that
there will be no more bugfix releases, and updates in general will be
limited to those fixing

Exactly, this is another bug. Using WEP/ASCII key I can not connect
even when in dinamic (DHCP) mode.
It should not be a duplicate bug.

Knetwork manager does not
There are a few different bugs being reported here. Katsudon reported
that it works fine with dhcp - dupe of bug #280762. WEP does not
associate (possibly no-WEP does not associate either) - dupe of bug
#292054. WEP/ASCII not working but everything else works- could be a
new bug.

I can confirm that Knetworkmanager in kubuntu 8.10 does not appear to save the
type of WEP key set for a connection. If i change it from hexadecimal to ASCII
or passphrase, and i save, this change is not

I can confirm that Intrepid PPA knetworkmanager from
http://ppa.launchpad.net/network-manager/ubuntu does not work with
static IPs - it ignores the settings and runs dhcp instead. Note I'm
using the latest
Same for: Kubuntu Intrepid Beta,
Thinkpad R61i
network with WEP password, connects fine when DHCP is used, but no longer if
static IP is used.
In my case the knetwork manager shows the icon full signal strength but the
connection is not really established. Also, in my case knetworkmanager does
