Firefox crashes when following links from www.failuremag.com.
I don't know how relevant this is, but I'll add it just in case.
I just recently had the same issue, and found out that I had multiple
files in my ~.mozilla/plugins directory, including an older version of
Flash. After removing those files and installing the flash package from
synaptic, I didn't

I think it would be better to write
export XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1
into
/etc/firefox/firefoxrc
which is sourced by
/usr/bin/firefox
and should survive the next update.
