I did check the mixer settingsfinally found an ALSA upgrade script that I
downloaded and ran and sound is alright now.

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FW245 with HDA Intel ALC262 onboard sound. Right
after upgrading to Jaunty, my sound still worked. However, after
another update, all sounds are now static, including the login sound. I
