I dnld's the live-cd daily build (10172008). Network worked fine, no
initial problems.
Installed smoothly, updated as it should.
I must say the new Nvidia 177.x drivers are much better than the older
ones.
Looks good.

OK, but the official Beta doesn't properly configure my network
interface. I saw on the site the daily builds would re-enable it.
The CD on the daily build is not recognized, regardless, when APT is
configured. Nor will it update from the 8.04 Ubuntu OS, as per the
error msg. I uploaded.

But that daily build isn't the beta - it's a post-beta build that is
considered alpha again for the time being. If you want the beta you
should get it from http://releases.ubuntu.com/8.10/ ...
I think that bug has been fixed by a cdimage code change, but will check
on Monday.
