I see the same error, but with a different backtrace:
The program 'firefox' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'.
(Details: serial 38065 error_code 11 request_code 53 minor_code 0)

Oh, and I already tried LIBXCB_ALLOW_SLOPPY_LOCK=1 without succes.

After reinstalling firefox 3 it still doesn't work. The interesting part
is: firefox 2 works! But as I would like to use the newest version (for
security reasons) and because with firefox 2 I can't accept some
certificates this is no real solution...

your firefox user stuff (bookmarks etc) is in ~/.mozilla/. Back up
that directory. A removal of FF should not remove your user config, back
up is to be on the save side.
