I spoke too soon, while I am able to mount it, if I try to view the
folders or do anything, gnu/linux hangs :(

marking it invalid as I was able to do it with help from friends on IRC
the command I should have used is sudo mount -t ntfs /dev/sdb1
/media/windows
that was all that was required.

This is in intrepid. I have a 160 GB NTFS HDD. It has some issues, but
if I try to mount it or even use fdisk -l to see the contents it hangs.
