Meanwhile I removed my .kde directory, did a clean install of kubuntu
8.10 and by that resolved a lot of issues. The icon problem still
persists however. I would really rather use the svg iconset. Yet the
icons are often wrong, missing or the oxygen icons are used
nevertheless. My system is

I also have this problem, but would also like to add that the icons in
the Logoff/Lock plasma widget also appear wrong.
