Public bug reported: Binary package hint: f-spot
F-Spot takes between 5 and 9 seconds to display a 8 mega-pixel (3MB) JPEG in Edit Image mode. It first displays a blurred version almost instantaneously, and then takes the rest of the time to put the sharp version over it. Gwenview, for example, takes less than half the time. Admittedly I am using old hardware (see below) but I believe it can be much faster - and Gwenview proves it. The long loading time makes slideshows impossible when the CPU is under moderate load - F-Spot starts skipping images (Should I open a separate bug for image skipping?). My computer's specs: AMD Athlon XP 2600 ATI Radeon 9600 with latest proprietary drivers (8.9) 1GB RAM Ubuntu 8.04, fully patched f-spot version: 0.4.3.1-0ubuntu1 ** Affects: f-spot (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- F-Spot takes a long time to load large JPEGs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/283487 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
