I think I understand now what is going on.
Yes, I have, with the same error generated. I have also tried removing
the package (and subsequently its dependencies), with the same error
generated. I just cannot access it through apt.
The soprano-daemon package IS from the aforementioned PP

I went to sleep after filing the bug. Looking at the issue again today,
it seems to involve packages from a PPA (namely, the kubuntu-members-
kde4 PPA).
I will post back when I discover more.

This appears to be local corruption, have you had any issues
with memory or hard drive?
Re-installing soprano-daemon may fix this situation for you.
