Thanks for the analysis. The minimum windows height of inkscape seems to
depend on the toolbar on the left and on a global minimum height. Could
you please convert this bug into an inkscape bug, as the inkscape devs
should make sure that their main window works on smaller screens as well

I just played around with Inkscape on a netbook and I think I've figured
out what's happening:
The Inkscape window does not fit vertically on a 1024x600 display, you
can't even resize it to be smaller than ~700px high. When the maximise

right-click on it's icon in the window-picker-applet and choose
unmaximise and then maximise it again?
