I've noticed this as well (a 1.8 GHz Pentium M with Radeon 9800 can't
even play a normal-size YouTube clip in SD).
However, it only appeared on Firefox and Chromium. I tried the same
sites in Epiphany, there they worked fine. Epiphany can even play 720p
YouTube content just fine on this machine.

I finally got flash working acceptable again... :)
It seems that some changes I had made to /etc/pulse/default.pa CREATED
the problems with flash playback...
I discovered that playing other video files (in VLC / Gnome Player
(Mplayer) etc.) were also slow/sluggish...
I had kept the original /etc

instead... Flash works (but more sluggish than when the Adobe plugin
actually worked)...

Same problem here. 64-bit Intrepid with 64-bit flashplayer from Adobe.
Both Nvidia 177.82 and 180.22 drivers are affected. When moving mouse
around while watching youtube video in full screen mode, the video slows
down.

What can I (we) do to gather info that may help resolve this? I am not

Flash is absolutely terrible in Intrepid, especially SWF files that
contain buttons. The animation corresponding with the buttons either
lags or completely freezes firefox when clicked with the mouse, and the
animation never syncs up with the sound if there's sound attached.

Basically what i see is that when watching a flash video (that is
completely finished buffering) if i move the mouse the video lags badly.
