What I expect to happen:
When dragging the screen-brightness slider the brightness of the screen should
change immediately.
What happened instead:
Screen brightness does not change.
Further info:
When running the Kubuntu 8.04 LTS live cd (kde 3.5.9) this feature works
perfectly.
And there is another striking thing:
When writing a number to /proc/acpi/video/NVID/LCD/brightness as user root (not
sudo) from a terminal window the brightness does change with the live cd but
not with the hard disk installation (the command succeeds but has no effect).
When doing the same for example on console 1 (alt+ctrl+f1) it works with live
cd AND hard disk installation.
