georg, you have tried hard, until midnight passed and it got Wednesday
after your third re-install, and then it worked. I hope for you that the
fix of bug 248619 will get uploaded before next Tuesday.
Note th
georg, first, your error_log shows that foomatic-rip is not involved in
your printing. So all fixes on foomatic-rip described here do not affect
your problem. It also shows that you are using Brother's printer
drivers. Your problem must have been another bug.
Now with your printing working correct
Now, it's working again. Strange. I reinstalled Cups, the drivers and
tried to print. I did that three times yesterday also, but with no
success. It's a little frustrating that after a update of the Cups, it
prints "garbage". Anyway, here is the error_log that came out now (even
if there were no "e

print job. Please follow the instructions in the error_log section of

captures a print job.

Well, it's back againthe garbage... Today, after I did the update
(including Cups etc.) my printer prints "garbage"...It seems that, after
every update of cups or similar that concern the printer, something
happensto resolve this, I have to convert the ODT-file to DOC, send
it to my mail-ad

tested the new foomatic-rip but still only garbage is coming out.

Indeed! I can print now! Thank you! I renamed the original foomatic-
rip. Is there any point in me holding on to that renamed file, or might
I as well delete it to save disk space?

and replace your /usr/bin/foomatic-rip by this file? Make sure you make
your new foomatic-rip world-executable. Can you print now?

My File Browser reports that my error_log is 34.4 KB. Yet each of my
several times repeated attempt to attach the file resulted in: "Cannot
upload empty file". (This message appeared to be generated by
launchpad.)

cupsctl LogLevel=debug
cancel -a
Then send another job. When it comes out broken again, copy your
/var/log/cups/error_log and attach it to this bug report.

%%Creator: (OpenOffice.org 2.4)
%%For: (vim)
%%CreationDate: (...)
In the above 'garbage' my name (vim) occurs. The date and time in
() are those of the print attempt. I have had this problem since
