Public bug reported: I rebooted my computer a couple of times tonight and each time I was having problems with pidgin. I've never seen this problem before. It would start to log into gtalk/xmpp and each time it would freeze. I finally started purple up under gdb and found the following message:
ERROR: Couldn't attach to DCOP server! DCOPClient::attachInternal. Attach failed Could not open network socket DCOPClient::attachInternal. Attach failed Could not open network socket When I run pidgin.dbg under strace I get the following message. I'm a little confused because I see all these calls to open a library for libaudacious. I do not have this library on my system at all. open("/lib/tls/i686/cmov/libaudacious.so.3", O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) open("/lib/tls/i686/libaudacious.so.3", O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) open("/lib/tls/libaudacious.so.3", O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) open("/lib/libaudacious.so.3", O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) open("/usr/lib/tls/libaudacious.so.3", O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) open("/usr/lib/i686/cmov/libaudacious.so.3", O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) open("/usr/lib/i686/libaudacious.so.3", O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) open("/usr/lib/libaudacious.so.3", O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) open("/lib/i486-linux-gnu/libaudacious.so.3", O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) open("/usr/lib/i486-linux-gnu/libaudacious.so.3", O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) munmap(0xb2e76000, 83786) = 0 pipe([7, 19]) = 0 clone(child_stack=0, flags=CLONE_CHILD_CLEARTID|CLONE_CHILD_SETTID|SIGCHLD, child_tidptr=0xb700c708) = 13316 close(19) = 0 Distributor ID: Ubuntu Description: Ubuntu 8.04.1 Release: 8.04 Codename: hardy Package: pidgin Status: install ok installed Priority: optional Section: net Installed-Size: 1856 Maintainer: Ubuntu Core Developers <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Architecture: i386 Version: 1:2.4.1-1ubuntu2.1 Replaces: gaim (<< 1:2.0.0+beta6-3), pidgin-data (<< 1:2.4.0-1) Depends: gconf2 (>= 2.10.1-2), libatk1.0-0 (>= 1.20.0), libc6 (>= 2.4), libcairo2 (>= 1.6.0), libdbus-1-3 (>= 1.1.1), libdbus-glib-1-2 (>= 0.74), libglib2.0-0 (>= 2.16.0), libgstreamer0.10-0 (>= 0.10.10), libgtk2.0-0 (>= 2.12.0), libgtkspell0 (>= 2.0.10), libice6 (>= 1:1.0.0), liblaunchpad-integration1 (>= 0.1.17), libpango1.0-0 (>= 1.20.1), libpurple0 (>= 1:2.4.1-1ubuntu2.1), libsm6, libstartup-notification0 (>= 0.8-1), libx11-6, libxss1, perl (>= 5.8.8-12), perlapi-5.8.8, pidgin-data (>= 1:2.4.1), pidgin-data (<< 1:2.4.1-z) Recommends: gstreamer0.10-plugins-base, gstreamer0.10-plugins-good Suggests: evolution-data-server (>= 1.10.0), gnome-panel (>= 2.1) | kicker (>= 3.1) | docker, libsqlite3-0 (>= 3.4.2) ** Affects: pidgin (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Pidgin can't connect to network socket https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/287953 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
