I'm experiencing the same exact issue. Nautilus version: Gnome nautilus
2.24.1. I have attempted to reinstall pango via apt with no luck. Have
tried compiling pango from source and installing with no luck either.

in a terminal and paste the output here? This is likely a problem with your
setup and the way that Nautilus is linking with Pango.

I fixed it by recompiling
sudo apt-get source libpango1.0-0

I'm not sure but when I did the upgrade, pidgin was running (which uses
the pango lib) perhaps pidgin blocked the upgrade of the pango lib.
