I've the same problem each 15 days...
I'm running Ubuntu Server 10.04.1 on an ProLiant DL360 G4
ubdatedb.mlocate becomes a zombie process and the server becomes very
very slow...

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try
with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are
available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/karmic .

This crash in fact appears to come from the kernel; updatedb.mlocate was
the userspace process running at the time, but in general a reasonably
innocuous process like this should not be able to cause the kernel to
crash. Reassigning.
